Fire Fire is not an item to be taken lightly. It has become more evident and therefore required, to have smoke detectors installed in new homes. The units being installed serve a great purpose, making the residents aware that there is a smoke condition present, most likely caused by a fire. These units are strictly local, sounding a loud noise. If you are away from the house, these units will serve their purpose, but will not transmit a signal to have the fire department dispatched. Also, with some of the building materials nowadays, a person can become overcome with smoke before being alerted to leave the home. These are facts. The smoke detectors available with the system are photoelectric, operating 24-hours per day, whether the system is armed or disarmed. These detectors will detect the presence of smoke, unlike ionization detectors, which can be triggered by non-smoke conditions. Once a detector is triggered, a shrill sound is emitted, and a signal is transmitted from the control console to the monitoring center. The fire department will be immediately dispatched. Heat detectors can also be installed, where irrelevant smoke and other such factors could cause false alarms. We are able to discuss these conditions with you. Besides having the automatic smoke detecting devices, the control center has a button, which can be used to initiate the fire alarm, if visible indication of fire exists, prior to the detection of smoke. The fire agency will be notified. |
