Reasons for Monthly vs. Contracts

Over the past 70 years that the security industry has been active, with alarm monitoring, major transitions have occurred. Independent companies were formed in the late 1920’s that competed with a handful of national security/guard organizations.

The systems were rather basic and revenue was generated from monthly system leasing agreements. Standard contracts extended for five years, or more. It wasn’t until the late 1960’s that the sale of the installed systems became an accepted practice. Companies began to emerge with the outright sale of installations, keeping the monitoring at a modest fee. The value of the installation was based on the projected life of the monitoring contract, be it a leased or sold system. The major companies began to purchase companies along with their customers’ contracts, increasing their own monthly revenues, almost overnight.

The big got bigger, making competition very difficult for smaller independent companies. Systems were "given free", for the opportunity of having the customer commit to a contract of 36 to 60 months. The norm was to have the customer lease the system, allowing the company to remove the system if the contract was defaulted, and still pursue the balance due, with litigation.

This is where we are today, with the major alarm companies competing for the contractual commitments of new customer. Without the contracts, the companies do not have the basis for sellouts, mergers, and other means of expansion. There are several variations such as lease or sale, length of contracts, "re-installation" agreements, etc. But, there is one common thread, the customer commitment.

Secure911.net is committed to the customer. We have no contracts. We monitor our customers with the utmost of care, being approved by Underwriters Laboratories, Factory Mutual and other agencies. Our basic policy is that you have to be satisfied for a continued and mutually beneficial relationship.

This philosophy is something that may be ahead of its time, but can only be developed with trust and understanding. We offer basic systems to new customers, which can be installed with the minimum of effort. Our services also include the transferring of your current monitoring services to Secure911.net, if you own a system.

Like with anything in today’s marketplace, there are needs for different types of security and monitoring. What we ask is that you check out what may in your best interest. Contracts and special installations are sometimes necessary to provide you with the security you require. Our company experience goes back over 30 years.
